I Hope That N***** Obama Gets Assassinated, But I'm Not a Racist Bigot or Crazy... Honest!!!

Well, that's basically what Denise Helms, a 22-year-old from Turlock, is telling us after her clearly racist and crazy Facebook post received a little more attention that she had originally hoped.

What I find more crazy than her comments is the denial, something that appears to be common among racists. Similar to Whoopi Goldberg with her obscene "rape-rape" comment, they don't seem to understand that you do not have to physically lynch someone before being a "real" racist. No, calling someone a n****** and hoping they're murdered is enough. And to top it all off, some people, including Helms herself, are trying to make this into a free speech issue.

"TURLOCK -- A Turlock woman who posted inflammatory comments on Facebook about President Barack Obama has been fired from her job and reported to the U.S. Secret Service.

Turlock resident Denise Helms, 22, posted shortly after the president's re-election Tuesday on her Facebook page, "And another 4 years of the (n-----). Maybe he will get assassinated this term..!!"

The post quickly made the rounds on social media, prompting Sacramento TV station Fox 40 to interview her about her comments Wednesday night. She told the Fox 40 reporter: "I didn't think it would be that big of a deal. The assassination part is kind of harsh. I'm not saying like I would go do that or anything like that, by any means, but if it was to happen, I don't think I'd care one bit."

Helms has since deleted the post and posted again about the incident. It reads: "So apparently my post last night about Obama got onto Twitter and Fox 40 came and interviewed me cause apparently a lot of people in Sacramento think I'm crazy and racist. WOW is all I got to say!! I'm not racist and I'm not crazy. just simply stating my opinion.!!!"

But the incident and surrounding outrage caused her to lose her job at Cold Stone Creamery, where she had worked for less than a year. Store director Chris Kegle said he was shocked to read her racist slur and see her accompanying interview.

"We found her comments to be very disgusting, and they do not reflect our opinions here,"Kegle said.

When he arrived Thursday at the store, he said, there were more than 20 angry voicemails about Helms.

"We made the decision because of her comments, but also the community feedback," he said.

Helms also caught the attention of the Secret Service. Agent Scott Gillingham from the Sacramento office said he was not familiar with Helms' case specifically, but he would check out her posting and the Fox 40 report. He said threats against the president are a felony under U.S. Code Section 871.

It reads: "Whoever knowingly and willfully deposits for conveyance in the mail or for a delivery from any post office or by any letter carrier any letter, paper, writing, print, missive, or document containing any threat to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States, the President-elect, the Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President of the United States, or the Vice President-elect, or knowingly and willfully otherwise makes any such threat against the President, President-elect, Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President, or Vice President-elect, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both."

Gillingham said his office would be assigned to review any report from Turlock, but he would not comment further on any possible investigation into her posting.

"We get a lot of these kinds of referrals, especially off of the Internet," he said.

Helms graduated from Placer High School in 2008, according to her Facebook page, and has the Romney/Ryan 2012 page among her "likes." She is not listed as a registered voter in the state registry database.

Helms could not be reached for comment by The Bee. She told Fox 40 she wasn't aware she could be investigated by the Secret Service for her post.

"OK, but what did I do wrong? That's fine if they want to," she told the reporter. "But I don't understand what I did wrong.""

Dubai A man has been accused of cross-dressing after police said they found him walking like a man while wearing an abaya and a niqab in a street.

Police said the 35-year-old Frenchman said he dressed in the abaya to steal jewellery and sell it to repay a €1 million (Dh4.6 million) debt he had accumulated in Paris.

Police suspected 35-year-old K.K., when they saw him walking in the street, and they arrested him when they realised he maybe a man despite being covered from top to bottom.

Prosecutors charged K.K. with cross-dressing by wearing women’s clothing, covering his hands with black gloves and carrying a female purse.

He was also accused of using a different name during a police investigation, by claiming he was an Algerian named A.J.

When the suspect appeared at Dubai Misdemeanour Court, he could not admit or deny the accusations as there was no French language translator.

“I don’t understand English, I only speak French,” K.K. told Presiding Judge Ali Saad.

The policemen who found the man said nothing was revealed from his body except his eyes. 

Walk like a man

One of the arresting police officers called K.K. and asked him to stop when he noticed that he walked like a man. The suspect did not reply and continued walking into a shop. The policemen followed him inside. When one of them tried to speak to him, K.K. tried to soften his voice and spoke like a woman.

The two policemen insisted he was a man and asked him to remove his niqab. They were greeted with a long beard.

Police searched his purse and confiscated a toy gun, knife and plastic tape in his possession.

During prosecution questioning, K.K. claimed he was a merchant but had suffered major financial loss and accumulated €1 million in debt in Paris.

“I could not repay my debts. I decided to visit Dubai and steal diamonds then sell it to be able to cover my debts. I took my wife’s abaya and niqab then came here. I came here on May 30 and I got arrested on June 1. I purchased the confiscated items from Mall of the Emirates. I stood in front of the shop that I was planning to rob before the policemen suspected me. My debt is what urged me to do this… I dressed up like a woman to steal,” claimed K.K.

The court reconvenes on July 2.

UK: Muslim Mother Beats her Child to Death then Burns Him, Claims Genies Told her to Do It

To clarify; when Muslims speak of spirits, they are referring to the jinn (known to English speakers as genies). The Devil in Islam (Iblīs) is also a jinn.

This women now claims that her abusive husband and his brother murdered her son and forced her to confess in their place. This women is clearly mentally disturbed, and if what she says is true, it makes this case all the more tragic.

A mother accused of murdering her son and burning his body to destroy the evidence claimed she lived in fear for her life today.

Sara Ege, 32, accused her husband and his brother of acting together to kill son Yaseem, seven, and burn his body.

A sobbing Ege claimed she was afterwards beaten and her life threatened unless she told police she was the murderer.

Ege collapsed in court as she was questioned about her son's death and only continued giving evidence with a nurse at her side.

She then accused husband Yousef Ali Ege, 38, of killing their son and said his brother Nasser burned the dead body.

Ege, of Pontcanna, Cardiff, is accused of beating her seven-year-old son "like a dog" with a stick.

The beatings were so brutal that in July 2010 he died from his injuries. A panicked Ege then burned his body, it is alleged.

Ege denies murder. Her taxi driver husband denies allowing the child's death by not stopping his wife's alleged beatings.

Ege later confessed to murder and claimed the Devil and voices in her head pressed her to beat her defenceless son.

Today she told a Cardiff Crown Court jury her home was filled with evil spirits called Jinn, and the Devil still spoke to her.

But she insisted that she "loved to bits" her son and claimed she was forced to confess to murder after a beating and threats from her brother-in-law.

Ege, a practising Muslim, was a bride from India in an arranged marriage originally conceived and carried out over just five days.

As a maths graduate she claims she expected a well educated and successful husband but found he was a postman and part-time taxi driver.

Both she and her husband were questioned briefly by police when it appeared Yaseem's death was a tragic accident.

An examination later found he had suffered broken ribs, a fractured arm and finger and significant abdominal injuries.

The couple were then arrested and questioned and Ege eventually went on to admit to killing her son in police interviews.

She later retracted the confession and claimed her husband habitually beat Yaseem and caused the injuries that killed him.

Her husband's brother then used barbecue gel and a lighter to burn the body.

Traces of gel found on her clothes after arrest were from an earlier barbecue, she claims.

Ege insisted today that Nasser threatened and beat her after her release on bail because she failed to confess to murder.

She said that both she and husband Yousef were released to her brother-in-law's home in Cardiff where she was at his mercy.

"He was angry and started hitting me in front of his wife," she said through a sobbing voice.

"He said that I should tell the police that everything that had happened to him I had done it. He threatened to kill me if I did not say to the police what he said."

She added that Nasser told her: "I should take all the blame and say the medication I was taking has done this to me and say that the Devil has told me to burn the body."

Ege said as a result she admitted beating Yaseem with a stick and burning his body, adding that her husband knew nothing about it.

She also claimed that she was encouraged to make a similar confession to her own GP who recorded details of what she said.

Ege was later admitted to a psychiatric unit and continues to reside in one during the trial.

She said today that voices in her head had never told her to hit her son or burn his dead body.

But she admitted that she had been hearing voices in her head for the last year and believed in evil spirits.

She agreed that she believed that evil spirits called Jinn, which are mentioned in the Koran, live at her Cardiff address.

She still also hears voices in her head on a regular basis: "They say the same thing. That my life is not worth living and I will be dead soon," she said.

Germany: Islam vs. Nazism, Muslims win Game of Intolerance (3 Attempted Murders to 0)

A group of protesting Muslims more intolerant than a group of protesting Nazis? There is little surprise here.

A 25-year-old Islamist was remanded in custody in Germany on Monday, accused of the attempted murder of three policemen as they were separating neo-Nazis from Islamic fundamentalist protesters.

Two officers were stabbed in the thigh on Saturday and a third officer dodged an attack by the knife-wielding man during a melee outside a mosque in the western city of Bonn.

Pro NRW (North Rhine Westphalia), a far-right party with neo-Nazi canvassers, had organized a protest event drawing nearly 30 rightists to the mosque, holding up cartoons ridiculing Islam and its founder Mohammed to publicize the group's anti-immigrant views.

A larger group of 500 to 600 Salafists, who seek to impose what they say are the original doctrines of Islam, held a counter-demonstration, trying to break a police cordon.

The police made 109 arrests, and 29 officers were hurt in the Saturday clashes.

Hannelore Kraft, premier of North Rhine Westphalia state, told the mass circulation newspaper Bild, "We will not put up with attacks on our legal system, and our police and will come down hard on both Pro NRW and the Salafists."

Prosecutors said the 25-year-old, who was born in Germany but has Turkish nationality, admitted to attacking the police but denied an intent to murder. He said he knifed the officers because they were protecting people insulting Muslims.

Prosecutor Robin Fassbender said the stabbings could have been fatal.

"If a major blood vessel had been punctured, the victim could have bled to death within minutes," he said.

The Central Council of Muslims in Germany condemned both sides.

"We expressly dissociate ourselves from violent Muslims who urge lynch justice and attack the police," general secretary Nurhan Soykan said in Cologne. She termed Pro NRW a hate group.

Kraft's government has tried to prevent further anti-mosque demonstrations by Pro NRW.

But a court cited free-speech grounds to quash a police ban on a similar demonstration by 15 Pro NRW activists Monday. Police said 400 mainly leftist counter-demonstrators yelled abuse at them in the city of Bielefeld without violence.

Belgium Court Charges 6 People in Deadly Exorcism of Muslim Woman

Welcome back to the Dark Ages (and contrary to what the victim's ignorant brother claims, exorcisms certainly are a part of mainstream Islamic beliefs).

A court in Brussels opened on Monday the trial of six people charged in connection with the 2004 murder of a young Muslim woman in a deadly act of exorcism, a practice of evicting demons or other spiritual entities from a person believed to be possessed.

The woman was reportedly deceived into believing that she could not have children because she was possessed and that she had to undergo a practice of exorcism.

But the woman apparently could not stand the severe punishment the exorcism allegedly entails to scourge the demon out of the body, and she lost her life.

The detainees in the case include two self-appointed exorcists, the victim’s husband and three female members of a radical Muslim group, will be standing trial for three weeks and facing charges of “torture leading to death.” If they are convicted, they face up to 30 years in prison.

Hours after Latifa Hachmi, 23, died in the evening of Aug. 5, 2004, her husband, Mourad Mazouj, made an emergency call reporting that his wife was feeling ill and stuck in the bathroom.

But the hypothesis of a natural death was quickly dismissed, as her body was found covered with bruises and her lungs filled with water.

Her husband later admitted to investigators that his wife was subjected month-long sessions of exorcism to evict from her body the demons that “prevented her from becoming pregnant.”

 The practice was conducted in the couple’s apartment in Brussels by Abdelkrim Aznagui, a Moroccan self-proclaimed “Sheik” and his “disciple,” Xavier Meert, a Belgian native who converted to Islam. They were reportedly assisted by the woman’s husband and three Muslim “sisters” of the victim.

During this period, the young woman had swallowed dozens of liters of “holy” water, according to Belgian media reports. She was fed two spoons of yogurt every day and always had earphones playing verses from the Quran.

In order to evict the demons, the exorcists reportedly put their fingers down the woman’s throat, forced her into bathing in hot water and beat her with a stick.

 “The husband and Latifa herself asked Xavier Meert for the exorcism sessions,” the husband’s lawyer, Peter Chomé said. “He may have misjudged her health condition, but it has nothing to do with torture,” he added.

Latifa’s family asked the court to consider the practice that led to the death of their daughter as an act of torture.

“They made Latifa believe that she could not have children because the devil was inside her. That’s why they started the exorcism rituals, but exorcism is not recognized in the Islamic faith,” the victim’s brother said.

Sweden: Muslim Prof. Says it's a Real Shame that Facts Confirm the "Prejudices of Islamophobes"

This is ridiculous. Surely if the facts confirm "the Islamophobes prejudices", then you should no longer refer to them with such a nonsensical label? Six out of ten mosques in Sweden gave women advice about how to deal with spousal abuse and polygamy that contradicted Swedish law, a media investigation has revealed.

Using hidden cameras and telephone recording equipment, two women posing as abused spouses visited ten of Sweden's largest mosques as part of a report put together by Sveriges Television (SVT) investigative news programme "Uppdrag granskning".

 The women then asked leaders at the mosques for advice about how to address issues such as polygamy, assault and non-consensual sex.

 Six out of the ten mosques visited by the women, who had also claimed that their husbands had multiple wives, told them that they should nevertheless agree to have sex with their husbands even if they didn't want to.

 Six of the mosques also advised the women against reporting spousal abuse to the police. Leaders at another mosque were divided on the issue, while women received vague advice from yet another mosque.

 Only two of the mosques gave the women clear advice directing them to report their abusive husbands to police.

 The women were also told by nine of the ten mosques that men had the right – under certain circumstances – to have more than one wife.

 Only one mosque told the women that men didn't have the right to be married to several women at the same time and that their husbands needed to follow Swedish law.

 The advice, which in many cases advocated violating Swedish laws, came from imams or family counselors at the mosques.

 When "Uppdrag granskning" host Janne Josefsson approached two of the largest mosques featured in the programme to inquire about their official position on matters discussed by the women, the answers he received were totally different than what the women heard.

 The chair of the Islamic Association in Uppsala claimed in the story that people should follow Swedish law.

 When confronted by what the imam at the Uppsala mosque told the women, the Islamic leader explained that the imam had expressed his personal opinion in urging the women to forgive their abusive husbands rather than report them to police.

 The imam with whom the woman met at the mosque in Stockholm defended polygamy and also advised against filing a police report about husbands who beat them.

 He suggested instead that the women try to show their husbands more love.

 "Don't refuse to give him love, because then he might change," said the imam.

 Upon seeing the SVT report, however, the board of the Islamic Association in Stockholm (Islamiska förbundet Stockholm) decided to suspend the imam immediately and launch an internal investigation.

 "This is a clear breach of Swedish law and they commit professional misconduct in their capacities as imams and associations," Mohammad Fazlhashemi, a professor and author of books on Muslim intellectual history, told the TT news agency.

 Fazlhashemi, who also appears in the SVT report, has reviewed a written transcript of the advice given to the women.

 "What these men are saying to the woman violates their human rights. The men demean and insult the women when they say 'you need to tolerate that these men hit you'," said Fazlhashemi.

 He is highly critical of the imams featured in the SVT report for not following Swedish law.

 "Considering the fact that the mosques have received state funding, they have also committed to following Swedish law and the basic principles of democracy," he said.

 Fazlhashemi describes the Muslim leaders featured in the piece as "conservative, letter of the law traditionalists".

 "Now it's time for some housecleaning. They need to weed out the bad seeds," he said.

 Fazlhashemi, who is also a Muslim, expressed concerns that such outdated mosque representatives benefit Muslim-haters and the far-right Sweden Democrats.

"They confirm the negative picture of Muslims. It's a real shame that they confirm of the prejudices that Islamophobes have," he said.

UK: Murderous 'Traditional Muslim Family' Claim Pregnant Woman was Killed by a Genie

This is just crazy. You would be forgiven for thinking you had entered some sort of time-warp. How on earth could they possibly believe that they would get away with murder by using such an excuse? And, yes, Muslims believe in genies (and witches).

A pregnant wife was smothered to death by her husband, his parents and his brother-in-law who later all claimed she may have been killed by an evil spirit, a court has heard.

Nalia Mumtaz, 21, was pronounced dead at hospital after being rushed there by paramedics who found her lying lifeless and ashen faced on a bed at the family home. Her unborn child died with her.

Her husband Mohammed Mumtaz, 24, his father Zia Ul Haq and mother Salma Aslam, both 51, as well as his brother in law Hammad Hassan, 24, all deny charges of murder and manslaughter.

At Birmingham Crown Court today, prosecutor Christopher Hotten said the cultural context in which Mrs Mumtaz met her death on July 8, 2009 was of importance, as were the religious beliefs of the defendants, described as a ‘traditional Muslim family with an emphasis on religious observance’.

He asked the jury: ‘Was she or may she have been possessed by an evil spirit which took her life as the defendants were to suggest both at the time and after her death?

‘Or may she have died as a result of some unknown or undetected illness?

'Or will you be sure that, as we say, she was assaulted, smothered, by these four defendants all of whom admit they were present when she died?’

Mrs Mumtaz was born in Pakistan and willingly entered into an arranged marriage with her husband, then a student at Wolverhampton University, in August 2007.

She came to Britain for the first time the following May after obtaining a visa and moved into his parents’ modern, three bedroom detached home in Birmingham.

Mr Hotten said she was attractive, bright and was ‘thrilled’ by the prospect of motherhood after falling pregnant in February 2009.

During her pregnancy, she was regularly seen by a GP and various midwives – the last time two days before her death - and both she and her unborn child appeared healthy.

But her parents said she phoned them at their home in the Jhellum district of Pakistan the day before her death and told them she was ‘not at peace’ living with her in-laws and was upset, Mr Hotten said.

The jury was also told that numerous telephone calls were made to Mrs Mumtaz's relatives in Pakistan, the emergency services and other individuals in the hours before she was taken to hospital.

During the calls it is alleged that Ul Haq claimed that a ‘djinn’ - or evil spirit - had been sent from Pakistan, while a woman at the house was allegedly heard to say ‘don’t call an ambulance yet - we will cure her ourselves.’

Part-way through Mr Hotten’s opening speech, Mumtaz collapsed in the dock in a clearly distressed state and the jury was sent home until tomorrow.

The case continues.

UK: "Indian" Takeaway Boss Tried to Recruit Children as Young as 12 to Work as Prostitutes in his Brothel

In the UK, you will rarely find an "Indian" restaurant or takeaway that is actually owned by an Indian. Almost all of them are owned by Bangladeshi or Pakistani Muslims. Islam is such a big thing for so many of them that, in some instances, they will refuse to employ you solely on the grounds of your religious beliefs. Even Shi'ite Muslims in the UK often face rejection by the Sunni Muslim employers.

A takeaway owner who allegedly ran a brothel above his restaurant hounded girls as young as 12 to become prostitutes and told one of his child victims that ‘age is just a number’.

Azad Miah, 44, branded the vulnerable girls ‘fresh meat’ and harassed them over weeks and months before offering to give them drugs, alcohol or money in return for sex, a court heard.

Miah targeted the girls in ‘a cold, clinical, calculated exploitation of the desperate and therefore vulnerable’, Carlisle Crown Court was told.

Tim Evans, prosecuting, said: ‘Most worryingly, he would stalk some of them, following them home in particular.’

One of the girls, who was just 14 at the time and addicted to heroin, was paid £100 for sex with him, it is claimed.

The girl, now 21, told detectives she had sex with Miah ‘hundreds of times’.

When another girl refused his advances he called her ‘white trash’.

Miah is accused of paying for the sexual services of a child, inciting child prostitution and of keeping a brothel above The Spice of India, in Carlisle city centre, between 2005 and 2011.

Opening the case, Mr Evans said: 'This is a case in which this defendant sought to persuade a variety of young girls, some of whom he knew were under 16, to have sex with him for money via the provision of drugs or drink.

'Those requests were either made face to face when girls either came into the The Spice of India in Botchergate or were made by telephone calls and texts.

'The attempted persuasion was persistent. He would hound young girls for periods of weeks or months face to face or over the phone. Perhaps most worryingly, he would stalk some of them, following them home.

'Some of the girls that he had made approaches to did indeed have sex with him for money.'

Mr Evans said many of the alleged victims aged from 12 to 16 were told by Miah that their friends were also having sex with him for money.

He told the jury it would hear 'in essence' that The Spice of India, since closed, not only operated as a takeaway restaurant but as a brothel 'where women attended and prostituted themselves'.

The prosecutor said many of the girls involved in the case were addicted to drugs or came from troubled backgrounds.

'It is the Crown’s case that the defendant deliberately targeted girls who fell into that category or who had other problems with the law,' he said.

'The defendant believed that such girls would be more likely to give in to his persistent offers... and they may find themselves less likely to be believed if they complained to the police against a responsible, respected restaurateur of the city.'

Mr Evans said it may be that Miah’s defence team would portray the alleged victims as 'the sort of girls who will lie'.

He continued: 'On the facts of this case you may think that far from being an argument for the defence, the character and background of these girls is a powerful part of the prosecution case.'

'It supports the argument, the Crown say, that this was cold, clinical, calculated exploitation of the desperate and vulnerable; drug addicts very often.'

Miah denies eight counts of paying for the sexual services of a child between 2005 and 2009, eight counts of inciting child prostitution between 2007 and 2011 and one count of keeping a brothel between 2005 and 2011.

The trial continues.

Woman Kills Hubby for Demanding 'Too Much Sex', "Camouflages" Crime by Putting Dead Donkey on Bed

Hmm. This must be the world's most incompetent criminal. Surely no one will notice anything strange if there is a slaughtered donkey left on the bed....

An Egyptian woman who was fed up by her husband’s excessive demands for sex drugged the man before strangling him. She then slaughtered a donkey and put it next to him to cover her crime.

The woman left her husband’s body and the dead donkey on the bed for eight days before they were discovered by the husband’s grand son who came to visit them at their house in the southern town of Qena.

Newspapers quoted police as saying the 25-year-old wife, identified as Duaa, confessed to murdering her 57-year-old husband by putting drugs in his juice. She then strangled him while unconscious.

“The woman said she decided to get rid of him because he never stopped demanding to have sex with her…she slaughtered his donkey and placed it next to her husband’s body as a camouflage,” a police source said.

UK: Muslim Woman lets Newborn Die and Dumps her Body to Preserve "Honor", Escapes a Jail Sentence

This is unforgivable. This only further proves that the life of children belonging to ethnic minorities is worth less, in the eyes of the British elite, than those of whites. How they could ever pervert something as noble as the idea of multiculturalism into what it is now, I will never understand.

A mother who gave birth to a baby girl in 'secret' following an affair, let her newborn die before burying its body in the ground.

Fatima Ali, from Bury, Greater Manchester, feared she would bring shame upon her devout Muslim family for having the child out of wedlock.

And after giving birth to the infant - alone her bedroom, she cut the umbilical chord and left it to die.

Last Friday at Bolton Crown Court Ali burst into tears as she was given a 26-week prison sentence, suspended for two years, and subjected to a twelve month supervision order.

Sentencing, Judge John Appleby said, 'You failed to seek medical assistance following the birth of your daughter.

'The tragedy that followed is at the immense disaster for this child. She died within two hours of her birth, and, had you acted appropriately, her life could have been saved.

'There’s no evidence that you ill-treated or assaulted the child and it’s still a mystery perhaps as to the course of action you took following her birth.'

'This is a tragedy and the result of your actions will be with you for the rest of your life.'

Earlier the court heard that Fatima lived with her aunt and uncle.

Her family had disapproved of her relationship with Kazi Mohammed Dilwar Hussein and, when she had fallen pregnant, her partner gave her money to have an abortion in Birmingham in 2009.

Nazir Afzal, Greater Manchester Chief Crown Prosecutor said: 'Whatever the community or familial dishonour or shame, real or perceived, that Ali may have felt, it did not justify the tragic death of the most vulnerable victim, a new born baby boy or girl.

'Life is a precious thing and not something to be thrown away in a nearby garden.'

Defending, Lisa Roberts, said her client had made a bad decision and was still physically and emotionally in shock for some time after the birth.

Roberts added that having been raised by her aunt, she effectively had two families to disobey by having a baby out of wedlock due to their culture.

Miss Roberts noted: 'She went out with her family that same evening. What else was she to do? She had concealed her pregnancy from those she was closest.

'It was a bit late to be telling them, having given birth in her bedroom, to say she was unable to go out.'

Miss Roberts added it was hard to imagine the circumstances which Fatima faced.

'She has genuine remorse and genuine understanding of what she has done and why she has done it.

Miss Roberts said Ali realised how foolish she had been getting involved with a man who had promised to marry and support her, but instead left the country.

Her phone revealed numerous texts between the defendant and her partner - who was out the country, one of which included a photograph of the baby.

The court also heard how Fatima's entire family had since been ostracised by community members, not only for what she has done, but also because of the relationship she had out of wedlock.

Roberts continued: 'She has cultural processes, that some cannot begin to understand, that still play a significant part in her life.'

Assimilated Moderate Muslim Nightclub Owners?

At first glance, they are a perfect example of US Muslims who have managed to integrate into non-Muslim society. They are successful businessmen owning multiple nightclubs selling alcohol, and, just like many of the Muslims in the UK who belong to pedophile rings that prey on non-Muslim children, they even have Western nicknames. But scratch beyond the surface and you find links to drug dealing, murder, sexual assault, and financial support for Islamic terrorist groups. And just in case you assume drug dealing could never be motivated by faith in Islam, you'd be wrong.

Drug deals. Weapons purchases. Ties to a prison gang and a militant Islamic group and even a potential link to an unsolved homicide.

That was the list of allegations federal officials laid out against an Austin nightclub owner and nine of his associates in a dramatic hearing Tuesday.

Arrested last week on money laundering and drug charges, Yassine Enterprises owner Hussein Ali "Mike" Yassine, his brother, Mohammed Ali "Steve" Yassine, and eight others appeared in federal court and heard more details about the cases against them.

Mike Yassine, who owns eight Austin nightclubs, and the other suspects in the case face a variety of charges. Some are accused of cocaine distribution, purchases of guns to be used during drug deals and money laundering dating back to 2007.

Officials linked one suspect to the Texas Syndicate prison gang. They also said thousands of dollars were transferred to a Yassine relative in Lebanon who is reportedly connected to the militant group Hezbollah, considered a terrorist organization by the U.S. government.

Prosecutors for the first time also revealed that Mike Yassine is a "person of interest" in a case being investigated by the Austin Police Department's homicide cold case unit. Austin police declined to provide additional details Tuesday, including the name of the alleged victim.

Mike Yassine might have also threatened witnesses, officials said, and is being investigated as part of a sexual assault case.

Judge Dennis Green denied bail for Mike Yassine and Steve Yassine. Bail for four others — including a third Yassine brother, Hadi Ali Yassine — ranged from $10,000 to $25,000. Bail rulings for the other suspects will be made at a later date, officials said.

Outside the courtroom on Tuesday, their father, Ali Yassine, said his sons are not guilty of the charges against them. "My boys ... everybody's innocent," he said. "They're very good boys."

Also charged in the case are Marisse Marthe "Madi" Ruales, Karim Faiq, Alejandro "Cueta" Melendrez, Edgar Orsini, Nizar "Nino" Hakiki, Amar Thabet Araf and Sami Derder, all Central Texas residents who authorities say have various levels of involvement with the purported crimes.

During raids on the suspects' homes and businesses last week, investigators said they seized more than 400 boxes of evidence.

They also report finding $200,000 in cash in a safe at the Yassine Enterprises offices on West Fourth Street, as well as cashier's checks totaling $45,000 made out to a member of the Yassine family in Lebanon. That man is associated with Hezbollah, IRS agent James Neff testified.

The searches also turned up a bogus University of Texas diploma with Mike Yassine's name, prosecutors said.

The American-Statesman has learned that businesses linked to Mike Yassine currently owe almost $600,000 in state sales and mixed-beverage taxes. His bank accounts have been frozen by the state comptroller's office, his attorney said in court.

Yassine Enterprises, owns eight Austin bars: Pure, Spill, Kiss & Fly, Treasure Island, Hyde, Fuel, Malaia and Roial. They've remained closed since last week's arrests and, officials said, will likely remain that way for the foreseeable future after the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission obtained a court order that blocks all eight nightclubs from selling or serving alcohol.

Mike Yassine is also part owner of Stack Burger Bar, which is still open for business. Its liquor license remains intact, according to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

Randel Gillette, an agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration, testified Tuesday that an informant who worked for the FBI became involved with the Yassines and their associates in 2007.

Investigators testified that Mike Yassine told the informant, who posed as a drug dealer — and whose accounts have driven much of the case — that he wanted to launder $200,000 to $1 million in narcotics money through his clubs. The informant's name was not released.

Initially, Mike Yassine and Steve Yassine cut the informant checks from Yassine Enterprises for the drugs, but Mike Yassine later wanted the informant to pose as a cleaning service instead to appear more legitimate, investigators said.

The government's evidence against the suspects, Gillette said, includes numerous recorded conversations, videos and surveillance of Steve Yassine and the informant arranging drug transactions, gun purchases and various other illegal activities.

"Steve was very interested in gaining profit from the drug trade," Gillette said. "He seemed very eager to get involved with that."

Steve Yassine first bought 30 grams of marijuana from the informant in late 2007, Gillette said.

The two also tried to buy cocaine from Orsini, a proposition that made the informant nervous because he did not know the man, Gillette said. He said the informant claimed he would disappear if anything went wrong during the deal.

"Steve responded, ‘If that happens, I'll make (Orsini) disappear,' " Gillette said.

Steve Yassine, a legal permanent U.S. resident originally from Lebanon, has not filed a tax return in four years, Gillette said. His income came from doing work for his brother Mike Yassine. He also falsified loan documents on which he said he was a citizen, Gillette said.

Steve Yassine's defense attorney Stephen Orr questioned the charges, saying his client was led on by the FBI informant.

"Every single act he is accused of was initiated by your source," Orr said.

He also asked why his client was not arrested sooner.

"If he's such a dangerous criminal, why not get him off the streets in 2008?" Orr said.

Attorneys for several other defendants, including Mike Yassine, made similar arguments, but Gillette said making the arrests earlier would have jeopardized the investigation.

Neff, the IRS agent, testified that middle brother Hadi Yassine was present during conversations between the informant and his brothers. Hadi Yassine was starting a beverage company called Famous Vodka for which Mike Yassine gave him $100,000 in drug money, Neff said. Hadi Yassine is not a U.S. citizen, Neff said.

Neff testified that Ruales was employed in Yassine Enterprises' corporate office. She had an on-again, off-again romantic relationship with Mike Yassine, Neff said.

Neff said Ruales would cut checks from the company to the informant as payment for drug purchases.

"The cash brought in by the confidential source was being laundered through Yassine Enterprises," Neff said.

When arrested, she said that "all she did was take orders from Mike Yassine," Neff said, although investigators reportedly have video evidence that shows Ruales knew what was going on. She hasn't reported any income from Yassine Enterprises in at least a decade, according to the IRS.

Neff said that when the company's "do-everything guy," Rommel Gomez, faced domestic violence charges, Ruales, on behalf of Mike Yassine, offered Gomez's wife as much as $250,000 to drop the charges — an act that investigators called witness tampering.

Gomez is in custody in Williamson County on unrelated charges, officials said.

Recordings show that the informant, Hakiki and Steve Yassine were involved in purchasing large amounts of narcotics, Gillette said. Steve Yassine introduced the informant to Hakiki because the informant said he wanted to buy a gun to protect himself. He told the informant that Hakiki previously sold him some hashish and would also sell guns, Gillette said.

The informant purchased a .22-caliber pistol and later a 9 mm Taurus handgun from Hakiki, and transactions were made at Steve Yassine's office and home, Gillette said.

Gillette testified that the informant met Melendrez, who goes by "Alex" or "Cueta," at a Yassine nightclub. The informant purchased cocaine from Melendrez there, and during the transaction, Melendrez put some of the drug on his finger, shoved it in the informant's mouth and said, "If you snitch on me, I'll kill you and your family," Gillette said.

Gillette said Melendrez "has history" with the Texas Syndicate prison gang. During the hearing, Melendrez stood up and told the judge he was not a member of the gang, which has been linked to murders and drug trafficking.
